Hardcover. 1st collected. [3], 232 p ; 21.5 cm. [Edited by his son, Heneage Horsley] 1. Primary visitation, St David's, 1790 -- 2. Primary visitation, Rochester, 1796 -- 3. Second general visitation, Rochester, 1800 -- 4. Primary visitation, St Asaph, 1806. -- `Our meditations have insensibly, I think, made a transition from the topic of "take heed unto thyself," to the topic of "take heed unto the doctrine." The terms of this admonition are very remarkable,--"Take heed unto the doctrine," not "unto thy doctrine;" although, by a typographical error, we read "thy" in many copies of our English Bible.' This pervasive error in 1 Timothy 4,16 is traced by Horsley in the charge for 1800 (p. 164-66) back to the Cambridge folio Bible of 1638, with a chart showing three correct (Cambridge 1648, London 1658, Oxford 1756) and eleven wrong (Cambridge 1638, 1657, 1660, 1663, 1666, 1762; London 1660, 1701, 1767; Oxford 1679 and Edinburgh 1722) printings. [Herbert gives the Cambridge folio of 1629 as the earliest known instance of this misprint] Good full tan calf, lower joint loose, lacking title-pieces.
