Orangish-red full cloth boards, block black spine titles, moderate shelf wear. Pages very good; no writing. Light discoloration to exterior text block, front pastedown and adjacent endpaper. Bind fine, square; hinges intact. Near very good first printing. Summary: "Sponsored by President Truman and established by an act of Congress, the CIA was initially founded as a data coordinating and intel gathering agency to combat the Cold War after WWII. Through drastic change, its role and operations are became unrecognizable and its power clandestine and out of control. Colonel Prouty was the official 'Focal Point' Officer for the Air Force, and then the DoD, for contacts on matters pertaining to military support of special operations (secret activities). Prouty pulls no punches here, reporting what it really is and does. Based on public historical fact and his special un-'siloed' position, and without oath to the agency in particular, Prouty indicts the deceptive and manipulative actitities, both domestic and international. Under the iron will of Allen Dulles, the agency deftly and silently infiltrated: Cuba; Vietnam; Laos; Cambodia; Germany; Hungary; et al.
