Zwischen 1982 und 1986 erprobte er in seinem Atelier in Essen die Möglichkeiten der Malerei in der Portraitkunst und fand so nach über 500 Portraits (in gleicher Größe von je 42 x 32 cm) zu seinem eigenen unverwechselbaren Stil. Der aggressive Malduktus, der Aufbau und Zerstörung gleichermaßen in sich vereint, wurde zu einem gewollten Mittel, nicht nur Gegenstand und Inhalt, sondern auch die Wahrnehmung des Betrachters in Bewegung zu halten. Motiv ist immer das Motiv an sich, realistisch klar erkennbar ausder Ferne, gestisch, informell abstrakt, desorientierend aus der Nähe. Das visuelle Ganze ist ein Paradox, eine optische Täuschung, mittels derer Jordan Wahrnehmungen ständig infrage stellt, ein gestisch abstraktes Spiel, in dem das An- und Aufreißen der Farbe auch das An- und Aufreißen der einen Gegenstand begrenzenden Umrisslinie bedeutet. Durch diese scheinbare Widersinnigkeit werden Vielfalt, Widersprüchlichkeit und Komplexität von Erscheinungen wesentlich und erfahrbar. In Zeiten der Globalisierung stellt Jordan Verortungen her, die als Relationen Orientierungen zulassen, und dem heute propagierten Verschwinden von Ort, Raum und Selbst in der Kunst entgegengesetzt sind. Seine Interpretation von Realität hat keine zynische, sondern eine soziale und visionäre Kraft. Aufgezeigt werden neue Perspektiven auf vermeintlich vertraute Orte, indem er gleichzeitig das Raum- und Zeitkontinuum ins Paradoxe überträgt. Das Ergebnis ist eine unfassbar lebendige, sich im Blick des Betrachters ständig verändernde Malerei.
