Hardcover. Condition: Fair. The beveled green cloth boards with green clover decoration are worn to the under-surface at the corners, soiled with age, spine is missing the lower 3" of fabric, tearing at the head, spine is torn so the front and rear are no longer attached, but front decoration is nice. The interior is loose in the book, and the two front endpapers are loose, the front endpaper is inscribed "Mrs. John D. Lee with the Publisher's Compliments Glascow 24th June 1870." Foxing throughout. There are twelve albumen photographs attached to the pages with legends and tales of the area. All orders packed with care, independent bookseller since 2011. 16 pages, on 2 uncut sheets of Japanese Vellum folded into very large quarto, together with a separate prospectus sheet and paper wrapper. Number 15 of this Edition limited to 100 numbered and signed copies, printed by T. Whittingham at Trinity Lane, London. Occasional light finger-marking but otherwise in very good condition. Clement's Opus 1 nos. 1,2 and 3 are settings for Voice and Piano accompaniment of three of de La Mare's poems 'The Horseman', 'Bread and Cherries' and 'The Huntsmen' each decorated with a woodcut designed by Frederick Carter and engraved by W.M.R. Quick. Clement and his wife Dorothea - a keen wood-carver - maintained a studio in Shropshire, and were friends of Frederick Carter who painted three panels on an altar carved by Dorothea, donated in the early 1900s and still in use at St. George's Church, Pontesbury. Small faint circular stamps of Cardiff Public Libraries in the bottom margin of two plates and the versos of the front free endpaper and the title, no other marks, slight blooming of the fore third of the cloth on both boards, minute frays to the head and tail of the backstrip otherwise a VG copy and scarce.
