Book
Soft Covers. Condition: VG. No Jacket. Art, Photos, Maps, Graphs Etc (illustrator). Reprint. This history covers a dramatic century for NZ, its original inhabitants and the arriving European settlers. At the time it opens there had been very little contact between Maori and Euopean, but this was to change very rapidly with the newcomers well established by 1840. The book begins with a reconstruction of pre-European Maori society, then follows the colonial, political, military developments, and the interaction between the two races. Land issues, which led to conflict, are studied, as are the factors that quickly changed NZ to a European style society. All aspects of this development are covered in the imposing text on the country's formative first 100 years. First printed 1989 with this reprint the following year. 433 pages including bibliography, index, art. photos, maps, graphs ect throughout. Card covers generally VG although front is creased on lower corner, few other creases, few marks and light edgewear, light wear to spine top. Text block is generally VG but there is underlining in ink and pencil with margin marks. This is mostly at the front of the text. No other inscriptions.

Book First Edition
Softcover. Condition: Very Good+. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. First Edition. No signatures.; 156, [4 (blank)] pages. Illustrated card covers. Page dimensions: 197 x 126mm. " An examination of the current application of the Treaty of Waitangi - what it means for us today. This book covers the history of the Treaty, i.e. events leading up to the signing, the signing, the different versions etc; but it also brings the implications of the Treaty up to date. Previous books go up to 1975 but this book looks at legal and political details since that time. It also looks at the wider issues, e.g. different attitudes between Pakeha and Maori, new immigrants, the foreshore and seabed issue. In addition there is practical information on topics like: What does an understanding of the principles mean? What are my obligations as a citizen of NZ? Some examples of legislation requiring obligations. Including case studies, examples and commentary, this book is essential reading for every New Zealander, and especially for anyone working in government or local government; anyone applying for resource management consents; and any public body required to honour the principles of the Treaty, e.g. schools, kindergartens etc.".
