Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: New. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. First Edition. Gift quality first edition limited hardcover in burgundy paper covered boards with sharp tips and spine ends. Negligible handling soil on white background, original, photo illustrated dj front panel. Jacket now in new mylar. 212pp text is crisp and white, no names, tears or soil inside. Pat's two mentors in her early training with horses couldn't have been more different - Sam Marsh, the elegant horseman and Jimmy Melborne, the tough horse dealer. She ultimately achieved her dream of showing her own hack at Royal Richmond and learnt how to buy and sell without making too many mistakes. She moved onto foxhunting and ran a busy livery yard in the Whaddon Chase country. Finally in 1964 she became a breeder of Connemara ponies under the Chiltern prefix. Her carefully chosen foundation stock provided a string of winners in the show ring many of whom were sold overseas. These fruitful years provided great pleasure. In between times she enjoyed judging and writing. This will be Pat's last book.

Book First Edition Signed
Softcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. First Edition. First edition paperback in complete but wrinkled, photo illustrated dust wrapper in new mylar. Book is dedicated by author Pat Lyne on title page and includes a typed, hand signed letter laid in from the author to a book buyer and includes an errata note about the text on said letter. 248pp text is crisp and clean with mapped endpapers. Former owner's small farm sticker at head of mapped endpaper along side of the author's personal promo sticker for this book. Very rare Connemara history. The first book written that offers a detailed look at the breed and how it evolved, along with how the Society and stud book were born. It contains an examination of the stallion blood lines on which the breed hinges today, including content on the time when the society began introducing crosses with additions by Thoroughbreds, Irish Draughts and Arabians. Reference to the earliest Connemara Pony Society stud books and access to the Society's stallion records have made it possible to provide so comprehensive a study. Signed.
