Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Erotic poetry by Pierre Louys, serving as an allusion to the quatrains of Guy Du Faur, seigneur de Pibrac (1529 1584). Pibrac, a moralist and chancellor of Marguerite of Navarre, had a style far removed from the frivolous tone of Louys. Each stanza in Pierre Louys' book begins with "je n aime pas à voir," translating to "I don't want to see." As typical with Pierre Louys (1870-1925), the text contains explicit content. Text in French. 87/100. 1 vol. complete. 19x14cm. Unpaginated. Printed on Arches vellum. Dry point vignette on the title page. Occasional foxes. Uncut. French binding. Original pink dust jacket. Original slip case, rubbed and soiled. Near fine condition.
