Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Hardcover with slipcase, published by Heritage Press, 1947. Originally published in 1824, this is the first Heritage Press edition. How Hajji Babba a barber, who travels from his hometown of Ispahan to Istanbul, having numerous adventures in the bazaars and the royal courts along the way. Includes the Preface by Sir Walter Scott, Introduction by E.G. Browne. Illustrated by Honore Guilbeau. 498 pages, 6-1/2" X 9-1/4", sewn binding. Sturdy illustrated cover boards, with the title and author name imprinted on the spine within a black field. Cover boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or worn, there is a small scuff mark to the title field on the spine - about the size of a sesame seed, at the lower left corner of the black box. The outer slipcase box is intact, the corners are intact, a couple dots of edge wear to the open side of the box. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. Edges of the text block are clean. Heritage Press editions were not issued with dust jackets. Not a library discard. The attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory.
