First edition, first impression, hardback issue, signed by Osborne; 8vo; publisher's red-cloth, backed mauve boards, titles to spine in gold, with the dust jacket, trivial mark to the fore edge but a near-fine copy in the dust jacket. The scarce hardback issue of the first impression of the Osborne version of Ibsen's masterpiece. This adaptation was performed in 1972 but never transferred to the West End and despite its release as a film the year later has been largely neglected ever since. The Faber edition was issued simultaneously in paperback format as well as in hardback. This copy is signed by Osborne on the title page and is exceedingly scarce.
