Pamphlet. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. This is a trade sized pamphlet with cardstock covers and a stapled spine. The pamphlet is in Good only condition and was issued without a dust jacket. The cardstock covers have several edge nicks, tears and small chips. There is a partially erased grease pencil number on the top front corner of the cover, and there is generalized overall toning. The text pages are generally clean, but have several notations in pencil to the first page of text. "Rev. Frank L. Goodspeed was ordained and installed at Mattapoisett, June 29, 1887. He continued his studies during his pastorate, taking degrees from Harvard College of A. B. And Ph. D. And was also a graduate of Boston University School of Theology.".

First edition. 8vo, mixed pagination, embossed green cloth, water-stained fore-edge (from a fire hose???), lacks title-page, rear free endpaper, and the right half of the final (?) plate, and possibly some final text, but, of course, as a Sample book, it started with only a representative sample from the full text. With the example of the gilt stamping for the cloth spine on the rear cover, and a fresh sample of the morocco spine with gilt stamping glued to the front pastedown. Offered "as is", with all faults. This is a Salesman's Sample copy, with 6 1/2 dramatic double-page woodcuts of the fires - including one of Peshtigo, and 2 single woodcuts.
