States, "First Edition" on the title page. The extra copy of one illustration is still attached at the front. There is insect damage along the upper and lower extreme board edges. All else is very good or better. Very clean, without marking. The dust jacket is price clipped which does affect a couple of letters in the title. A couple of short, closed tears. It also has insect damage along all edges, including the spine. ; Square 4to 9" - 11" tall.

Book has a bit of light waterspotting to the front and back covers, otherwise a Tight sound unmarked copy in Good condition. Dustjacket is in Fair to Good condition with a lot of crinkling and creasing and minor chipping to the spine but with nice illustrated covers with most all the flaws around the edges not affecting the artwork. $ 1.25 original price is present and unclipped on front flap of dustjacket. We have placed dustjacket in a brodart protective cover and it looks much better than described.

States "FIRST EDITION" on the copyright page, opposite the title. This is the Junior Literary Guild edition and so designated on the title page and also to the lower, front jacket flap. The upper fore corners and the spine ends are bumped. A former owner name to the upper, front free endpaper. It is otherwise unmarked and tight. The dust jacket has a number of small edge tears. There is a 1 1/4" tear to the lower, rear. To the verso there is clear tape used in repair to most of the tears. Chips to the spine ends and corners. Original price of $2.50 to the front flap. Caldecott Award Winner but with no sticker to the jacket. ; Oblong 8vo 8" to 9" tall.
