Interior intact, a bit toned by age, with a few tape reinforcements along fore-edges of early pages. xi,27 pp. + cxliv (144) full page plates at rear. Functional reference copy. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Photographed by C. Geoffrey Holme, described by William Gaunt. Very good plus, first edition book in good plus dust jacket. Yellow cloth covered boards with brown lettering on front board and spine. Upper page edges are brown-tinted. Boards are lightly soiled, mostly smudges around the edges. Faint sunning to extremities, slightly more on spine. Edges at head and tail of board spine are softened and creased; head of spine has faint beginnings of fraying. Internally clean and with snug text block. Significant loss at head of jacket spine and upper left corner of back panel. Additional losses but to a somewhat lesser extent along lower left edge of back panel, upper right edge of front panel, lower edge at tail of spine and all fore-edge corners. Upper right edge of front jacket panel is rubbed and with creases, a 3/8" closed vertical tear and a 3/8" by 1/4" chip. Front, back, and spine are soiled overall, more so on spine which is also sunned. All folds are creased and scuffed; front fold of spine is almost completely rubbed through, back fold has several rub throughs. Center of spine has a closed horizontal tear across the width and adjacent to rub-throughs on front and back spine folds. Inside front flap has a 2 1/8" by 1 1/4" price clip. Significant rubbing to joints, back strip head and tail and board perimeters, with gilt detailing to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting and instances of foxing to text leaves, with plates clean and bright. Very Good. book.
