In the remainder of the book Buck describes his work as a soloist and leader in the USA and Europe and his more recent career as an arranger and composer He has also lectured in jazz studies at Hunter College, NewYork, Buck's reminiscences cover many of the most important names in jazz, in particular Billie Holiday and Count Basie. His work with Coleman Hawkins, LesterYoung, Jimmy Rushing and many others is recounted in detail. Nancy Miller Elliott is a leading New York photographer who specialises in jazz-related subjects.
