Book
Paperback. Condition: Review sticker inside cover. A frustrated author is offered the chance for her beautiful daughter to become unimaginably rich and famous as a tennis player. What will she say? What if she has even greater ambitions of her own? Or if the desired outcome involves a pact with what, the Devil himself? Nothing in Charlotte Randall?s wicked new novel is exactly as it seems. Who, for instance, is telling the story? Which of the players has the most to lose? Is the tennis coach more than human ? or considerably less than divine? From the author of the prizewinning novel The Curative, Within the Kiss is a hilarious and often erotic exploration of pride, and of the art of telling lies. (Preceeding text courtesy www.penguin.co.nz) ++ Joint runner-up for the Deutz Medal for fiction at the 2001 Montana New Zealand Book Awards ++ Paperback (B-Format).

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. 272 pages. Taking the significant Faro Convention on the Valu e of Cultural Heritage for Society (Council of Europe 2005) as it 's starting point, this book presents pragmatic views on the rise of the local and the everyday within cultural heritage discourse and it examines ways in which authorised or 'expert' views of he ritage can be challenged. It concludes that local agenda and ever yday places matter, and examines how a realignment of heritage pr actice to accommodate such things could usefully contribute to mo re inclusive and socially relevant cultural agenda.

'Randall's Ph.D., from Radcliffe was awarded in 1955 with a dissertation on medieval marginalia, some of the earliest work addressing the topic per se in art history. In 1957 her article in the Art Bulletin, 'Exempla and their Influence on Gothic Marginal Illumination,' won the A. Kingsley Porter Prize from the College Art Association. She was an associate scholar at the Radcliffe Institute for Independent Study between 1961 and 1963. In 1964 when her husband became assistant director of the Walters Art Gallery in Baltimore, she joined Johns Hopkins University as a visiting lecturer in medieval art. During that time Randall completed her book on medieval marginalia, Images in the Margins of Gothic Manuscripts, published in 1966' (Dictionary of Art Historians Web site).
