Extremities a little worn, at head and tail of spine, and some foxing; otherwise a very good copy. 1888 gift inscription on first free endpaper. Illustrated by colour frontispiece and 53 wood engraved figures, including plans and by title page vignette. The hunting volume, and first to be published, of the Badminton Library of Sports and Pastimes, by the Duke of Beaufort (1824-99). Soldier and politician, he was the Conservative MP for East Gloucestershire, 1846-53, before succeeding to the title. He was the founder and editor of the Badminton Library. The joint author was Mowbray Walter Morris (1847-1911). Appendices include a list of hunts and names of hounds. First published 1885.
