Marston, "old Friend, The author of "The Children of India" dedicated to 32 English children who asked for a book on Chinese children. Annie Wright Marston, daughter of Dr. C. H. Marston of Devizes, Wiltshire, was a missionary born at Uley, Gloucestershire, in 1852. There are gritty descriptions of the treatment of baby girls in China and of women in general. The final chapter of the book asks for help to raise money for Chinese Missionary Societies.
