Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 53 pp., 24 full page plates. (12 1/2 x 17 1/2 inches, one corner sl. worn, generally fine to very fine) Sold for $488 at the Skinner auction of November, 1994. Scarce.
Soft Cover. No date, no place. Photos taken by Irvin Kershner of historical stringed instruments from the famous Erich Lachmann collection. Evidently issued prior or in conjuction with the book published in 1950. Portfolio of 24 loose photographic prints in a decorative paper folder. Depicted are examples of violin, harp, guitar, hurdy-gurdy, mandolin, lyre, and lute. Each photo plate is tipped to a paper backing with a description printed on the reverse. The plates vary in size slightly, approximately 8" by 11" and would be quite suitable for framing. The overall dimensions of the portfolio are 12" by 17.5". Quite scarce. See photos. Size: Elephant Folio - over 15" - 23" tall.
