Card Stock Pictorial Cover. Condition: Very Good to Fine. No Jacket. First Edition. Prehistory of El Rito De Los Frijoles ( Adolph ) Bandelier National Monument : Techinical Series , Number 1 written in 1940 by Jerome William " J. W. " Hendron and Published by the Southwest Monuments Association , Coolidge Arizona ; May 12, 1940 as the first publication in the " Popular Series: The Guide to Southwestern National Monuments ". It is illustrated with dozens of photographs and several 4 fold out maps of Tyuonyi at Frijoles Canyon and the main complex ruins and the Long House . The photos show the tufa volcanic soft rock that the blocks were cut out of for the communal buildings at the site that was the Boyd Ranch before becoming a National Monument. Called " Frijoles Canon" because when Adolph Bandelier explored it in the Jemez Mountains the site was as it had been left centuries ago when the Native Inhabitants had literally just walked away withj post on cooking fires, sealed jars of Pnto Beans in the room, clothing left, tools, pots and everything just walked away from at some single moment in time. The cayon stretches up the valley to a ceremonial cave high up on the tufa mesa and innumerable small house sites were just carved into the tufa walls and expanded with block construction and paster finishing with some original paint and ceremonial & symbolic artwork still visable. This publication examines the time frame from 1292 in eras to the 1930's. It is in fine condition in every respect. 88 pages including seven doube page fold outs on Ceramic Corellation Tables for the canon sites: The Large Kiva , Ceremonial Cave , Tyuonyi the Big Community House , The Long House and wondeffully detailed archeological / architectural specifications for the Large Kiva and Ceremonial Cave It measures 6 1/2" By 9 1/2" Size: 6 1/2" By 9 1/2".
