"Coalescing with Omega" is about the authors personal perception of what may happen after death to every person, of the approximately six billion people, who now inhabit this planet. While living, their race, nationality, culture, religion, gender, age, specific attributes etc. played a vital role in all they did. However, no sooner they are dead, in all probability, they will experience the same process. Various religious beliefs and myths colour what most people believe is likely to happen after they die but, there is little definite, scientific and irrefutable evidence to support such views. In Hamlet, Shakespeare refers to the "dread of something after death", especially "when we have shuffled off this mortal coil". The author has attempted to develop this theme through 5 fictional characters, who all die simultaneously. They are Luke, a baptised Christian from the U.S.A., Mohan Das an Indian Hindu, who migrated to England, Abdul Karim, an Egyptian Muslim, Padma, a Sri Lanka Buddhist, and Nicky, an Aborigine from Australia. They represent a microcosm, to some extent, (in her opinion) of the world. Their deaths as well as the expectations they once held regarding what happens after death, differ vastly, but they experience the same process. The rites and rituals at their funerals and the interaction with their erstwhile families, as well as the evaluation and appraisal they make of their lives in the light of their new awareness are a social commentary where I have tried to credibly fuse fact with fiction! Details about their lives and deaths, are completely fictitious and have no relation, whatsoever to any living person and only reflect personal observations, while living as well as travelling in the countries mentioned.
