It provides recommendations on regulatory review and assessment of the various safety related submissions (on siting, design, construction, commissioning, operation and decommissioning or closure of a nuclear facility) to determine whether a facility complies with the applicable safety objectives and requirements. This Safety Guide supersedes Safety Series No. 50-SG-G3, Conduct of a Regulatory Review and Assessment During the Licensing Process for Nuclear Power Plants: A Safety Guide (1980).
