When the Glass Cat of Oz attends the dedication of Silica Valley's Great Glassworks, she doesn't know she's about to find her roots and be wished smack dab into the middle of the one-hundred-and-one-year-old mystery of the Hidden Prince of Oz! Arizona orphan Emma Lou didn't expect anything special on her birthday. She never dreamed a wooden Indian Chief would said out of the clouds and carry her into an adventure in the fabulous Land of Oz! After plunging through the skylight of Silica Valley's Royal Glassworks, they meet Princess Vitrea, still pining away for the Prince of the Blue Mountain. Did Zeebo the Sorcerer have a hand in the disappearance of the Prince? Penny the teacup poodle and Beak the blue parrot, along with their new friend Ketzal the feathered boa, set out to find the answer. After thrilling and joyous adventures in Oz, everyone ends up in the mysterious castle at the very pinnacle of the Blue Mountain. But even with the help of old Oz friends - the Tin Woodman, the jolly Wizard, and Polychrome the Rainbow's Daughter - will anyone be able to discover where the Hidden Prince has been hiding all these years? The Hidden Prince of Oz was first published in 2000 in celebration of the hundredth anniversary of L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Gina Wickwar's story - winner of the International Wizard of Oz Club's manuscript contest - together with Anna-Maria Cool's fantastical illustrations, will carry readers once more over the rainbow!
