These outstanding stories from the 2014 Bristol Short Story Prize will provoke, stimulate, move, amuse, unsettle, and entertain. A wonderfully diverse and exhilarating collection of short stories, that enhances Bristol Short Story Prize's reputation as a major contributor to the resurgence of the short story genre. Writers published in previous Bristol Short Story Prize anthologies have gone on to further publication and success: Emily Bullock was discovered by literary agent Ed Wilson in the Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Volume 4. She subsequently signed a publishing deal with Myriad Books. Her debut novel is published in April 2015 Clare King's debut novel The Night Rainbow was published by Bloomsbury in 2012 - Clare featured in volume 3 of the Bristol Short Story Prize anthologies. Marli Roode's debut novel Call it Dog, published in 2013, was shortlisted for the prestigious Dylan Thomas Prize - Marli has had stories published in Vol 2 and Vol 3 Bristol Short Story Prize anthologies. Tim Weaver has recently had his 4th novel, Never Coming Back, published. Tim's short story The Close was published in the first Bristol Short Story Prize anthology in 2008. Tara Conklin's 2010 shortlisted story, Signs of Our Redemption, published in BSSP Anthology Vol 3 was the basis for her debut novel, The House Girl, published by William Morrow in the US. The Bristol Short Story Prize is an annual, international writing competition based in the city of Bristol, U.K. The BSSP publishes 20 stories every year and presents cash prizes to the 20 writers published. The winners are announced at an annual awards ceremony.
