The son of a humble shopkeeper, H G Wells can be justly credited as the father of modern Science Fiction. 'The Time Machine', first published in 1895, still sparkles with that originality and imaginative use of scientific theory which became the hallmark of 'War of the Worlds', 'The Invisible Man', and all the later writings of this literary mastermind.

About the Author:
H. G. Wells, the third son of a small shopkeeper, was born in Bromley in 1866. His controversial views on sexual equality and women's rights were expressed in the novels Ann Veronica (1909) and The New Machiavelli (1911).
