"The School at the Chalet" was first published in October 1925. The special edition, published to celebrate 80 years of the book being constantly in print, will include: New biographical introduction by Helen McClelland; Austria 1914-1938 by Carol Allan, with new maps by Peter Jolly; Elinor's Achensee by Sally Dore with photographs from the 1920s - 2005 (some in colour); Detailed publishing history by Clarissa Cridland with some of the varied illustrations in colour; All four original black and white plates by Nina K Brisley and a general introduction and details of all the titles in the "Chalet School" series.
About the Author:
Elinor Brent-Dyer was born in 1894 in South Shields on Tyneside. At the age of eighteen she began a career in teaching which culminated when she founded The Margaret Roper School in Hereford. She was headmistress at the school from 1938-1948, during which time she wrote and published 14 books. She continued to write up until her death in 1969.
Elinor Brent-Dyer wrote fifty-nine Chalet School titles, creating a well loved series with a legion of dedicated fans.
