An Atlas of Venice - Hardcover
In a series of double-page spreads, this atlas displays historic Venice as an aerial photo-map and as a detailed line map. Everything about the city is visible, from the major features - the waterways, piazzas and courtyards - to the smallest detail of rooftiling. The line map, produced by computer from the photo-map, provides the complementary analysis - a measured plot of the city showing building units, open spaces, planting, and circulation systems on water and land. Supporting the maps are essays on historic images of Venice, and on the cartographic theories and practice which have produced this atlas.
