Elsa Petersen-Schepelern is an absolute dab at finding new twists to familiar themes. In Finger Food she turns her attention to canap�s, so often restricted by limitations of time or imagination to limp rounds of toast smeared with pink, beige or green slurry. Not here. Finger Food offers a fantastic range of smart party foods in all shapes and forms, as well as some winningly original ideas about presentation and serving. There is a good deal of sensible advice about preparation, timing, quantities, serving sizes, how much work to take on as cook, what to serve in what order, and the like: all of it extremely useful to any party planner.

And the recipes? To give some idea of what's on offer, these are divided by category into Spoons, Cups and Quickies; Toasts, Buns, Tarts and Cones; Pizzas and Pastry; Leaves and Seaweed; Wraps and Pockets; Bites and Balls; Wontons and Satays; Sweet Things and Drinks.
