ALAN SMALE is the author of numerous short stories, and has been published in Asimovs Science Fiction Magazine and Realms of Fantasy. He won the 2010 Sidewise Award for Alternate History. He grew up in Yorkshire, England, but now lives in the Washington D.C. area. He works at NASAs Goddard Space Flight Center as a professional astronomer.
