Find out why girls are raving about Lola!

An exhilarating and heartfelt story of middle school adventure and intrigue, The Adventures of Lola proves you don’t have to stick to the status quo to save the day. Written with wit and gripping insight into what it takes for teenage girls to stand up for what is right, The Adventures of Lola is dazzling in its magic and excitement.

To 13-year-old Lola, the world is not a very magical place. She often gets in trouble, whether it’s with her parents, who find her rich imagination a bit tiresome, or at school, where the teachers see her as being far too dramatic. But Lola knows she is meant to do more in life, like maybe save the day...someday.

But when Lola and her friends realise that something disastrous is about to strike their town, they gather their strengths and are determined to solve the mystery. Their sleuthing soon brings them all the way to the King, who is less than pleased with Lola’s fearless hunt for the truth.

As Lola struggles to remain in the good graces of the people in her life, she starts to realize just how unique she truly is...and just how magical her life might actually be.

Review:
5 stars - I absolutely loved this book! I absolutely loved this book. I read it in one sitting, it was so good I couldn't put it down. All the characters are great and I think they were very appropriate for the story. My favourite character has to be Lola as she is so witty and relatable. She is brave, kind, strong (emotionally and physically) and just generally amazing. My least favourite character is definitely the King of the Mountain Fairies because he was very mean, he wouldn't listen or open his mind to anyone else, and in his eyes he was right and everyone else was wrong even if they weren't . I also really liked the Queen of the Water Fairies because she was more than happy to take Lola under her wing and teach her everything she needed to know. I think she contributed to the story a lot. I loved how at one point it switched from 1st person to 3rd person. This tells the reader what is happening (outside of the main character's knowledge) which I think is very good. When the book was written in first person, it really felt like Lola was having a conversation with me, which made me like her even more and I felt like she was a friend of mine. I felt more involved in the story because of the way it was written and made me feel. I would rate this book a five star read, I loved it so much I just couldn't give it any less. I would definitely recommend it and I won't hesitate to read more from this author. Review by my daughter Joanna, aged 11, for A Book Lover's Emporium. --A Book Lover's Emporium Book Blog

What a fun read! This is a delightful and refreshing book. What starts out as a typical misfit school child story, which in itself would have been interesting given the fun personality of the lead character, quickly transforms into a full-on adventure and a story of self-discovery. I loved the surprise two chapters in, which then took the book into a new depth. But what I really liked about the story was its positive female role models. I think this story has a lot of good messages for children, including: - women can be strong and vulnerable, it's not about one or the other - women can be leaders, and men find this natural and are happy to follow and/or work together - the importance of teamwork, family and friends Finally, I also quite liked the format of the book (if you have the paperbook rather than kindle version); I like how the font changed when Lola was making a list or sharing her immediate thoughts, and I really liked the illustrations - these plus the chapter dividers could actually be colouring book pages, enabling the reader to further immerse themselves into the story if they wanted. --Amazon.co.uk customer

A rare find - a great book for young girls with a feisty, imperfect, strong female heroine with none of the normal female cliches. Not every girl dreams of being a princess (or being saved by a prince!) so it's a happy find to read such a story for young girls (and boys too). The author has perfected the page turning technique where it's impossible to put the book down at the end of each chapter. It a bonus that it also has a strong eco message and I love the look of the book - it's magical without being saccharine. In a sea of pink, plastic tiaras, The Adventures of Lola is a flower crown that converts into a sword! --Amazon.com.au customer
