In order to acquire the requisite knowledge of the physical signs, and of their relation to each other, as well as to the general symptoms, it is, in the first place, necessary to examine a well characterized ex ample of each sound, and to fix the recollection Of it as firmly as possible in the memory. After the signs have been learned, their relative importance is to be estimated, and they should then be compared with the general symptoms of the disease.
