Prof Radha Mohan Sharma did his doctorate in Pomology at the Dr
Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Solan, HP (India)
in 1996, and became Assistant Professor at SKUAST J&K in 1999. Prof.
Sharma has headed the Regional Horticultural Research Sub-Station,
Doda for five years, and served at SKUAST-Jammu for 13 years in various
capacities. He has also served at RVSKVV, Gwalior, MP (India)
as Professor (Hort.) for one year. Presently, Prof Sharma is working as
Principal Scientist in the Division of Fruits & Horticultural Technology,
ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi (India). Prof
Sharma has about 14 years research experience of temperate fruits, and
has exclusively dealt with the research on strawberry, walnut, apple and
pear. Presently, he is engaged with the research on citrus improvement and
rootstock research. Establishment of field gene bank of temperate fruits, identification of elite clones of
walnut and Ambri apple, varietal evaluation and standardization of propagation technique of strawberry
in subtropical areas and development of two acid lime varieties are among his credits. Prof Sharma has
13 years experience of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, and he has guided 5 MSc
(Fruit Science) students. He has published three books, 12 book chapters and 50 research papers in
national and international journals. He is a Fellow of Horticultural Society of India.
Prof Rakesh Yamdagni did his Doctorate in Horticulture at the
Government Agriculture College, Kanpur under Agra University
(now C. S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur)
in 1969, and worked at the Punjab Agriculture University, Hisar (now
Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar)
as Assistant Professor in 1967. Prof Yamdagni served at Haryana
Agriculture University, Hisar for more than 30 years in the capacities
of Head, Department of Horticulture, Head, Department of Forestry,
Regional Director of Research for Dryland Agriculture and Director
of Extension Education. He also worked as Vice Chancellor, Narendra
Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, Faizabad (UP) for three
years. Prof Yamdagni has published one book, more than 100 research papers and 150 articles. He
guided 13 PhD and 9 MSc students during his academic carrier.
Dr Anil Kumar Dubey did his Doctorate in Horticulture at the C.
S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur in 1996, and
joined Agriculture Research Services in 1995. Presently, Dr Dubey is
working as Principal Scientist at the Division of Fruits & Horticultural
Technology, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi.
Dr Dubey has made an outstanding contribution in the fields of mango
and citrus improvement and their rootstock standardization. He has
developed nine varieties of fruit crops including mango (four) and citrus
(five), standardized softwood grafting for the Khasi mandarin, identified
salt tolerant rootstocks for citrus fruits and standardized the gamma
irradiation doses and ovule age for maximum recovery of haploids in
citrus. He has guided seven MSc and three PhD students. In addition, he
has published 87 research papers in national and international journals,
3 books, 3 practical manuals, 5 technical bulletins, 27 popular articles
and 17 e-publications. He is the recipient of Rajiv Gandhi Gyan Vigyan Maulik Pusthak Lekhan
Purshkar (Pratham Purshkar) from Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India and Dr Shyam Singh
Best Scientist Award for Citrus from ISC. He is a Fellow of the Horticultural Society of India.
Dr Vikramaditya Pandey did his Doctorate degree in Horticulture
at the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (UP) in 1998, and joined
the Agricultural Research Service in 1996. He has served at Central
Horticultural Experiment Station, Bhubaneswar (Odisha), National
Research Centre for Banana, Trichy (TN) and Indian Institute of
Vegetable Research, Varanasi (UP) in various capacities. Presently,
Dr Pandey is working as Principal Scientist (Horticulture) at the
Horticultural Science Division of the Indian Council of Agricultural
Research, and looking after the national coordination and monitoring
of various research and development issues on horticultural crops. He
was involved in evolving three varieties, one each of mango, custard
apple and chilli. He has worked on various aspects of improvement,
production, integrated cropping system and natural resource management in horticultural crops
with special reference to fruits and vegetables. Dr Pandey has published about 40 research papers, 4
books, 10 book chapters, 6 technical bulletins, 21 extension folders and 24 popular articles. He has
visited four central Asian countries to explore the possibilities of developing collaborative research
projects on crops and aspects of mutual interest of partner countries.
