"Once upon a very, very long time ago, when toads could talk and the sun could sing, there lived a certain Duke whose tiny Dukedom was known as Dingle. Now, being a Duke is no small job, and the Duke of Dingle, being quite certain that he was twice as busy, twice as famous, twice as rich and twice as Dukely as any other Duke, proudly considered himself not just an ordinary Duke but a very special Double-Duke! He was a kindly little man who smiled a good deal. He loved cherry tarts, and had a very round tummy to show for it. He lived in his palace with his wife, the Double-Duchess, and their two children-Anathema and Shine. Shine was a very good little boy about your age who was studying to become a wizard, and Anathema was a grown-up girl of nineteen. She was a problem." Come away with the Double-Duke, the Double-Duchess, their beautiful daughter, Anathema (here meaning "a person or thing bent on destruction"-and she really does live up to her name), their wizarding son, Shine, a terrible Gnoger (his mother was a gnome and his father was an ogre), and a lost Prince who received very bad directions. Full of adventure, intrigue, humor and magic, The Daughter of the Double-Duke of Dingle is sure to find a place in your home and in your heart.

About the Author:
JAMES BILLINGS, author and baritone, holds a B.M.E. from Wichita State University and a M.M. from Boston University. One of the original members of Sarah Caldwell's Opera Company of Boston, he later was engaged by the New York City Opera which remained his artistic home for 26 years. Billings performed some 150 roles with NYCO, eight of which were broadcast on PBS, and one, Leonard Bernstein's Candide, for which he received a Grammy. Also an accomplished lyricist/librettist, he has won ASCAP awards for his children's operas, one of which was the inspiration for this book. Billings currently lives in his hometown of Springfield, Missouri, with his wife, Judith, and continues to write and work on special projects. EUGENE GREEN, multitalented bass baritone and illustrator, sang leading roles with most of the large opera companies all over the United States, including the Metropolitan National Company, the Kansas City Opera and the Cincinnati Opera. Engagements took him to Germany, Mexico, and South America, and on extensive tours of Canada and the United States. His illustration credits included the covers for James Billings' opera libretti and the humorous The Nutley Papers, as well as Nico Castel's volumes of phonetically translated opera libretti. His wife, Ethel Green, is a set designer and muralist. His family also includes two sons and three grandchildren. More of his work can be found on his website www.artsandmusics.com.
