Hitherto, boys intended for every kind of employment, have received, without variation or discrimination, the same course of education. They have been limited in their pursuits, either to the arts of reading, writing, and arithmetic, or to the study of the dead languages. The latter, and the more favourite system, had its origin in the monkish ages, when our law, physic, divinity, and literature, were wholly Latin.
