Here and there I have inserted additional items, as page fillers. Each of these is separated from the main article by an alternating shell motif... Where possible I have included the common (or vernacular) names of species mentioned, both common and scientific names being included in the Index, parts of which should not be taken too seriously.... I now send it on its inconsequential way with a light heart, trusting that shell collectors and serious students of mulluscs alike may find something entertaining and possible enlightening in its pages."
