Chapter 1 presents a historical perspective on the process of sharing books about war and peace with children, and includes some of the developmental issues involved with giving the right book to the right child at the right time. Chapter 2 suggests specific techniques for sharing books about war and peace in the classroom, the library and at home. Chapter 3 analyses the topics of war and peace in children's literature. Entries in the bibliography, alphabetically arranged by author, are accompanied by descriptive and (in some cases) evaluative annotations. Reading grade levels of the fiction and non-fiction titles range from pre-school through to grade 8.
