Scientists have often been reproached for their apparent unfamiliarity with the rest of our cultural inheritance. Inasmuch as science represents one way of dealing with the world, it does tend to separate its practitioners from the rest. A quotation is a polished prefabricated unit of thought or discourse which has many connotations and associations built in to it.
