Book Description Trade paperback. Second AMACOM paperback Edition. [8], 183, [5] p. Tables. Figures. Includes a Preface to the 1980 edition. References. Index. The author writes in the Preface for the 1980 edition: Quite clearly, the case for reforming the entire regulatory apparatus which is made in this book has become even more urgent in the past year. The slowdown of productivity and the perfasiveness of inflationary pressures suffered by the American are no mystery. Among the most serious--and remediable--casues of those ailments afflicting the American economy, excessive regulation suresly deserves a spotlight." From Wikipedia: "ray Lew Weidenbaum (born February 10, 1927), United States is an American economist. He is currently the Edward Mallinckrodt Distinguished University Professor and Honorary Chairman of the Murray Weidenbaum Center on the Economy, Government, and Public Policy at Washington University in St. Louis. He has served as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy (1969-1971). He was chairman of President Ronald Reagan's first Council of Economic Advisors from 1981-1982.
