For three years, photographer Mary Cross travelled throughout Morocco, from the Sahara Desert in the south to the Rif Mountains in the north, visiting large cities, small villages, and the country's little-known, inaccessible regions. Gathered in this volume is a selection of her photographs, which seek to capture Morocco in all its remoteness, beauty and mystery. Mary Cross is a trustee of the American University in Cairo and the American School of Tangier, a member of the advisory councils of the Institute for the Transregional Study of the Contemporary Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia and the Department of Comparative Literature at Princeton University, and a governor of the OTR lecture series of the Foreign Policy Association of New York.
