About the Author:
Pembrokeshire-born Lawrie Phillips was an Armed Services media specialist serving successive Commanders-in-Chief Fleet and Naval Home Command. He was Head of Publicity at the MOD and Head of Media Operations at the Permanent Joint Headquarters at Northwood. Sometime Lieutenant Commander RNR and Lieutenant Colonel, Royal Engineers, he is a vice-president of the Society for Nautical Research, a Councillor and former vice-president of the Navy Records Society and a member of the Victory Advisory Technical Committee.
