Review:
This book is meticulously argued, and daring in its breadth. The authors make a compelling case for understanding that violence descends from global to interpersonal patterns of domination in a triangle in which violence, subordination and freedom feed one another. This work is a refreshing antidote to the compartmentalization and stereotyping of violence so prevalent for instance in my own field of criminal justice. It is also refreshing to see so many well thought-out proposals are offered for breaking out of the vicious cycle of human domination. Students will love the down-to-earth presentation of examples in this text. -- Harold Pepinsky, Indiana University and Walden University
