About the Author:

Sylvia Rimm, Ph.D., is Director of the Family Achievement Center at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland and Clinical Professor at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. Since 1994 she has served as the child psychologist for NBC's Today show in a series called "Raising Kids in the '90s." She also hosts a nationally broadcast radio program and writes a syndicated newspaper column on parenting. Dr. Rimm received her master's and doctoral degrees in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has coauthored a widely used textbook, Education of the Gifted and Talented. A mother of four, she lives in Cleveland with her husband.
