Quando Bonagrazia sia venuto alla luce non è ben chiaro: secondo il Frati sarebbe nato intorno al I291 ma forse questa data può essere risospinta indietro di qualche anno, perchè solamente verso i ventanni, secondo la consuetudine si poteva essere creato notaio, e non è neppure detto che tuttii candidati al notariato dovessero avere appena e soli venti anni. Comunque sia, ci resta l'atto del 10 grugno 1311, col quale Braccio di Bandino pistoiese, dottore di leggi, giudice e vicario del podestà Enrico dei Bernarducci, dopo aver assistito all'esame che essi avevano sostenuto innanzi al preconsole della Società dei notai Biagio Magnavacca, a due giudici e ad otto notai, e constatata la loro idoneità e sufficienza proclamò notai parecchi aspiranti, tra i quali era Bonagrazia di Bambagliolo Bambaglioli che fu così autorizzato ad esercitare l'arte pubblicamente in Bologna e nel contado.
