About the Author:
Jay Coakley is Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He received his Ph.D and M.A. from the University of Notre Dame in Sociology and received his B.A. from Regis College. He is published in a wide range of journals and has edited several books including the forthcoming Handbook of Sport and Society with Eric Dunning for Sage Publications, and presented numerous papers around the wordl. He has seved on the editorial board for the Sociology of Sport Journal where he was editor for many years. He is currently on the editorial board of the International Review for the Sociology of Sport.
