Professor Rakesh Govind, Ph.D., joined The University of Cincinnati in 1979 and has taught Chemical Engineering Design to seniors for over 25 years. He graduated from Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur) with a BTech Degree in Chemical Engineering and completed his MS and PhD in the Process Synthesis area from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr, Govind was appointed Director of the Industrial Control and Process Safety Center at Mellon Institute and worked as Senior Engineer at Polaroid Corporation, Boston, MA. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, has been awarded the Alfred Bodine Award from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and several Earth Day Awards by the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company. Dr. Govind served as an invited member at the Scientists Helping America Conference, convened by the Department of Defense after the 9/11 attacks.
