Synopsis:
The peaks of the Himalaya, Karakoram and Central Asia are the highest in the world and consequently they have a perennial fascination for climbers, especially now that they have become increasingly accessible to outsiders. Furthermore, those peaks which have already been climbed are now offering exciting possibilities for ascents by new routes. This book provides necessary information on each of the over 400 known peaks between 7,000 and 8,000 metres. It contains detailed summaries of their location, access and routes, together with descriptions of their individual histories of exploration and ascents.
