Synopsis:

Headley, a wise-cracking New York City girl with as much wit as any character on "Sex and the City", is jaded and cynical about men in New York. She vows to say yes to any and every person who asks her out - a taxi driver, a homeless man - you name it, she'll say yes for an entire year. By the year's end, she meets the man she eventually marries. Divided into a chapter per month, Headley will offer a variety of her oddest dates, as well as her gradual development from being deeply shallow and judgemental based on such all-important factors as the colour of one's shirt to being open to any type of guy (or woman, for that matter) who expresses interest and getting to know them sans judgement. Headley has a young, fresh voice with tinges of humour, intellectual allusions and a combination of both (as a child she decided to make her way through the entire alphabet at the local library and managed to make it to M by the time she graduated).

In her year-long quest, she goes from dating guys who think that NPR (national public radio) is a turn-on to a guy who wants to introduce her to God (his name for his penis), a homeless man who thinks he is Jimi Hendrix and many permutations in between. This book has lots of the appeal that "He's Just Not That Into You" has. In the end, Headley ends up with an older man with two children, who she formerly would have excluded as a possibility. Her "Year of Yes" opened not only her mind but also her heart.
