Martin Luther (1483–1546) was the most famous leader of the Protestant Reformation. He was educated by Augustinian hermits in Erfurt, Germany, and became a professor at Wittenberg. Hans-Peter Grosshans was born in 1958 and studied theology at the universities of Tubingen and Oxford. He was ordained minister within the Evangelical Church of Germany. He now teaches dogmatics and the philosophy of religion at Tubingen and is junior director of the university’s Institute for Hermeneutics.
