Very Good in wraps. A [24-page] program booklet for a "Pioneer Day" gathering of Icelandic Canadian residents in and around Gimli, Manitoba, Canada. published [1925]. Most of the booklet is devoted to celebratory and commemorative poems by leading Icelandic-Canadian writers and dignitaries. Includes an original poem by Skuli Johnson written (in English) for the event, entitled "Canada of the Vikings"; Toast to Canada in Icelandic by S. E. Bjornsson; a long poem by noted Icelandic-Canadian writer Sig. Jul. Johannesson; a poem to Icelandic pioneers by Jon Kernested; the anthemic poem Sandy Bar (by Guttormur Guttormsson) in both languages, plus a three page history of Icelandic immigration to Manitoba (in English). Note that this item is listed separately from the long run of booklets on the Manitoba Icelandic festival (Islendingadagurinn), since it is a separate and one-time event.
