Octavo, 43 pages. In Very Good condition. Bound in full red morocco with a large gilt frame by Bernasconi, with their stamp. Rebacked in red leather with gilt lettering. Gilt turn-ins framing red moire silk, endpapers also red moire silk. Original wraps and spine bound in. Light rubbing to corners. Housed in a Very good minus slipcase. First and second endpapers with closed tear to fore edge, with first also having a large tear repaired with tape. With a facsimile autograph page by Huysmans and 23 reproductions engraved from the edges of the Bièvre, including a frontispiece by E. Tanguy. Inscribed to Anne de Rochechouart de Mortemart, Duchess d'Uzei folowing the front wrapper, probably by Léon Genonceaux. Shelved case 9. The second edition, following an edition of only 10 copies. Anne de Rochechouart was a wealthy French aristocrat, known for her involvement in feminist causes and charities, politics, sport hunting, automobiles and the arts, and was an accomplished author and sculptor. [wikipedia] Léon Genonceaux was a nineteenth-century French writer and publisher, known for being the first to published Arthur Rimbaud and the Comte de Lautréamont. He had to flee Paris due to a conviction for publishing indecent literature. He is better known today as the author of a recently discovered novel, 'The Tutu,' a decadent example of the French fin-de-siècle written under the nome de plume of "Princess Sappho." 1374516.
