Fisher attempts to answer a question about Santa Claus and the two different ways he is depicted: "At one extreme the heavily realistic. this is really a lie and is always found out. with a corresponding period of disillusionment. At the other extreme, a fanciful, imaginative telling of the quaint, friendly idea of Santa Claus, as little realistic as any other fairy story, which is little by little assimilated by the child without shock."
