To Jesse Lasky, in New York City: "Enclosed is a letter I received from Percival Wren, the author of BEAU GESTE. I am also sending a copy to Mr. Zukor. I do this not because of any reference to me but rather because of what he says about yourself and Mr. Zukor as American Producers. You once said.that it was your ambition to produce a picture which could be released on the same day and date in every principal city in the world. It is naturally my ambition to direct this picture.What we all did with Beau Geste Proves that we Americans can produce a picture which will appeal equally to every Anglo-Saxon mind in the world."; Paramount Pictures released "Beau Geste" on August 1, 1927, directed by Herbert Brenon.
